Induction

Induction of labor is something a lot of pregnant women face as they head towards the end of pregnancy. Learning about what to expect that day is smart so you’re educated ahead of time.

A lot of women are induced early.  Most often a 37 week induction happens due to medical concerns including preeclampisa, too little amniotic fluid or complications from diabetes.

A lot of people wonder how long an induction will take.  It obviously really varies, but your provider should have some sort of an idea when they schedule you for one.

There are a lot of ways to get induced.  Cytotec is one of the most popular ones if your cervix isn’t open yet.

As you prepare for an induction, much if it is similar to preparing for labor (you just know when it’s going to happen).  However, there are a few specific things to do the day before an induction.

And finally, don’t be shy — be SURE to ask your questions before an induction!  There are a lot of myths about induction that just aren’t true!
